Q. I've wanted to be national park ranger since I was a little kid. I didn't go to uni straight after high school , but did an engineering certificate which took one year full-time study. I stuffed around for a couple of years doing different kinds of jobs, having fun and basically not trying too hard because I thought I wasn't good enough to be a ranger, but I finally had enough of that and decided to a diploma of Applied Science, which was two years full-time study. I completed that in 2000. After that I truly applied myself to trying to get a ranger job. I managed to get a job with another government department and thought it may be my foot in the door. I tried to get as many different work and life experiences that I could, for… [cont.]

A. you shouldnt give up if that it is what u really want to do. Maybe u should look into ranger jobs in other parts of country or in smaller cities to widen your chances, and move back later if necessary. you should also note that, at age 40, you have less and less chance of getting hired for being old, because companies or depts prefer hiring younger people to train them, and therefore u should accept that invitability of giving up someday.
