From Google News Search: "Volunteer Focus Groups" Volunteer Opportunities for 9 yr old? Q. Please read completely before answering. I know this is young. But I am only looking for a 1 day a week, or so service available for my son. Reason being: 1) To break some selfish and unappreciative attitudes that have been growing in him. 2) To aid in his homeschooling requirements of good citizenship. 3) To compliment his "active" learning style. He learns best when physically moving around. (one of the reasons I'm going to homeschool him, sitting for long hours is countereffective for him). Examples of organizations that would allow a very young person to offer time would be helpful. He is already in scouts, but they focus more on group activities than volunteering. I'm not looking to leave him alone. Working with him is ideal for me.… [cont.] Asked by Getsbetterwithtime - Sat Jan 6 02:38:51 2007 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments A. Hi, I think that is a good thing. Its good that you recognize that your son needs to break his bad habits of selfishness. The children growing up today are known as the "entitlement generation", and they think that I pods, expensive sneakers, and video games should be handed to them on a silver platter. But what happens is that when children--especially black boys--grow up like that--they tend to be lazy, unproductive members of society who turn to using different women or crime as a way to achieve that lifestyle of luxury--because they just cant understand a hard days work. I know because I saw my brother become a man like this--he was very spolied and catered to as a child. I think that homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and working… [cont.] Answered by Cuban Lady - Sat Jan 6 16:01:24 2007 Does this scare you? I'm still working on my mom, who was offended by Barack's comparison of his wife with Jacqueline Kennedy. Both mom and dad (and everyone else I talk to) agree Hillary Clinton's bid is finished. Republicans registering as Obama democrats with the intention to unseat Clinton? --- It's been very disturbing. Ever since January. The evidence is mounting: the big business-owned media's nonstop 24/7 Obama coverage, Obama's unusually deep pockets outspending Hillary 3-to-1 in each state, all of these Democratic caucuses he's strangely won in predominately Republican states - states that ALWAYS vote for Republicans in every Presidential election no matter what... Q. Ok before the current situation, to better understand, you need to know that my mom has had a drug (pill popper) addiction for the past few years. For over a year she was always just out of it and we thought that she was taking extra pills on accident and after so long we finally as a family (a huge one) found out the truth that when she would get depressed she would OD just so she could "sleep her pain away". We had a family intervention when I was pregnant with my son. I told her that if she didn't stop that she would not be able to see her first grandbaby. That worked...so I thought. She stopped for months and even got into volunteer groups and such to stay focused on the positive. Well she has been watching my son (now 3 months old)… [cont.] Asked by I love my son - Fri Dec 19 19:10:25 2008 - - 10 Answers - 0 Comments A. Oh boy, I feel your pain. My mom was in an accident 10 years ago and injured her back - they started prescribing her percocet and then oxycontin and she became addicted. None of us wanted to believe it. The day I finally believed it, I had just had dental work done and was in a lot of pain. I had gotten a prescription for percocet and my mom decided she was going to come over to my house "to comfort me". Well, she came over for 5 minutes - long enough to use the bathroom and steal all my pills. I called the police, and I called social services because my sister was only 13 when all of this happened. Shortly after, my mother was driving my sister to school one day and drove right off the road because she was high.
